1st time poster here. Just trying to get it right.

DD has been invited onto 2 teams. Dd wants to play in college and is going into junior yr in HS. Loves the out of state travel, was on a team that did out of state travel for the last 2 years. Did not get as much playing time as dd wanted, mostly due to all coaches having their kids on the team. Not interested in remaining with old team, looking to increase playing time and start the college recognition process.

Team 1 is an 18u gold, travel only club reforming after the asst coach left and took 4 or 5 kids with her. Existing head coach is known to have college connections and chooses prime tournaments with prime field locations. This head coach has a day job and said its very busy now, so the (2019 college grad) asst coach will run the team when head coach cannot be present. Tryout was directly with existing 18u team. During 1st tryout, head coach wasnt there...Dd was asked to join the team by the parent who was helping out and the asst coach. 2nd and 3rd tryout head coach was present and instructive. Parents said the asst coach isn't the best communicator and head coach has not been around as much as in the past. Seems like parents and players are nice, very welcoming. Players "keep the book" (keep score).

Team 2 is 16u, playing local schedule only for the fall, hopeful for travel in the summer of '21. Head coach is a former college player from 10 yrs ago and has been coaching for at least 7 years. Team is part of a multisport organization with its own fields, practice facilities, cameras at fields, lights on fields, etc. Coach is paid, electronic record keeping. Seems definitely more "professional" overall. Can't imagine a parent being asked to help run a practice. Tryouts were mixed with 16u and 18u girls, so hard to figure out exactly what each team would individually look like. Overall, it looked like these girls were more trained. Head coach was present for both tryouts, informative and interactive.

So which direction do we go? Playing time, which I've read on this forum is a huge factor, seems it would be around equal...but I'd guess probably a little higher team 1.

Which team does your DD like better? Which one will be playing more showcase tournaments in the areas of colleges your DD is interested in? What do you mean start the college recognition process? If your DD wants to play at the college level, she should have been emailing coaches and going to camps at the colleges she's interested in since her Freshman year of HS if for no other reason than just to get on their radar.
