WCWS Exciting DD to play

DD left playing soccer in late May after our club had issues. We signed her up for rec softball and she has been watching the WCWS. Obviously, I have a team in the finals which helps. She is excited to start, learn how to play, and getting an understanding of how to play. She can't wait for her weekly training sessions, her new gear to get here, and to start practicing. She has always been athletic and a bit nervous about trying a new sport.

I feel that girls have a lot less athletes to look up to, especially ones that get press, than boys do. While there are pro teams, their aren't that many of them and for us the closest is about 4 hours away. We do however have several college teams around at all levels and my daughter follows many more of the college players than pro. We go to a few college games a year and try to get to one pro game when we can. My daughter really idolizes some of the college players.
