Making infield reaction time quicker

I am going to pass along an unusual training method we used on one of the teams I played for. Our head coach was also a varsity football coach at a local HS, so we had access to an indoor facility.

Everyone knows what a mini trampoline is. We would place a mini-tramp a few feet from a wall with no windows. We would take thick padded mats, or any type of cushions all around it. We would get on the tramp and start bouncing left to right with small bounces.

The coach woul be 20 or 25 feet away with a raquet and a bucket of tennis balls. Wbile we werrte bouncing, he was swatting ennis balls at us that we caught with our glove. We each took a bucket of hits and then the next player.

The first round wasnt real fast. 2nd round, faster. 3rd round, he was swatten em fast! If you missed and they hit you anywhere, you wore some red welts home. Sounds cruel but it is alot of fun.

Everyoneon my team had reactions as quick as a cat, ridiculously scary reactions to line drives and one hoppers.
