I like the 17' Rawlings!
Is the shell (finger and thumb stalls) on this mitt mesh? If so, NO THANK YOU. I'll take Wilson's SuperSkin over mesh any day.
Only four fingers are mesh, the thumb stall is leather. My DD had not tried the Wilson... assuming at some point in her softball career she will try it and form an "opinion". At the end of the day, the important thing is that she loves the Vinci and that is good enough for me.
Thank you for your view though.
The first gloves I remember utilizing mesh was Franklin. They were youth gloves and they were very cheap....because they were cheaply made foreign crap and didn't last very long. Maybe today's mesh on the high-end gloves contain carbon fiber, kevlar or some other material to make the mesh a viable option. Otherwise, the mesh coupled with sweat, dirt, sun, and rain will not last as long as leather.
The Vinci Mesh Series is constructed with kip leather and kevlar mesh back. So, it is not fabric. I'll report back next year once she had gone through a season with it. My DD can be very rough on these mitts.
