when the pitcher raised her arm to simulate a throw, the LBR was immediately "off" and the runner may choose either direction. However, if the pitcher lowered her hand and did not make a throw, it is again "in effect" at which time the runner must advance directly to one base or the other. My biggest issue would be that the LBR is a "dead ball out" It should have been called immediately when the baserunner changed directions.... right?
You right about that, the umpire should not of let the play run out then call LBR.

I just started umpiring this year and this is the biggest thing that gets questioned around here. So the pitcher made a “move” so now the play is live right? The runner goes to 2nd and a throw is made there. Isn’t the LBR still off?

Yes it is off.

Also off for the runner on on third who can now be off the bag again. Not that it matters because no one will likely be watching her. 😎😎😎

(NOT a dig on the umpires, it’s just what happens.)
