This young man is a small 11YO, who is in LL. I am not posting to show him. It is too early - but to show the stuff, I use. The ball on a dowel rod, is used to break in ball gloves, the plate drawn on a bath mat, I learned from Howard. 
I put the plate at the wrong end, actually. And I put down the batters box, out of white lawn chair webbing and I poked it down with nails. (Lowes, in the outdoor furniture department.)
Oh, and he isn't swinging through the ball, he is supposed to be coming out to point of contact and stopping. You don't want them to hit that thing.
