    Quest for pitching knowledge

Th There are a few drills where a student will remain completely closed with her hip angles (he called it the perpendicular power line drill) this is in an attempt to create a bit more offsetting separation. He is extremely scientific and data driven. I may have over reacted, as I'm a little...

    Quest for pitching knowledge

As someone who has both been a student and now a colleague of Rick Pauly, I think you are sadly mistaken and couldn't be more wrong about Rick's instructions to be at a 45° angle. In the 14 years experience I have a long side him, I can't remember one single time he has ever instructed anyone to...

    Drop ball string target

Using 1" pvc make a basic H pattern base with a tee in the middle to support an upright thats at least 4' tall. The preferred rope is called a Chinese jump rope. Set each stand approx 4' in front of the plate with the string being approx knee height.

monkey butt and quad dominance, Are they linked?

The term known as monkey butt or ninja move is primarily caused by two things. Forward effort of the shoulder and an unstable hip.... Has very little to do with the quad

monkey butt and quad dominance, Are they linked?

Some girls are more likely to use their quad more so than their hamstring.

    Pauley vs Tincher

I have been fortunate to have spent a lot of time with Rick and only one lesson with Denny and a couple phone calls. I'm sure the differences are subtle but significant. Tincher.... No brush, looooong stride, no reference to arm stabilization, no details of control. Pauly... Brush trigger...

    Change up help

I call it "dump the thumb" At 9:00 turn the thumb nail straight downward, bend the elbow by rubbing the ball across the belt, then stab the thumb straight towards the target

    Rise Ball Speed

Not a curve, like the announcers say.... It's an off speed, low rise.

Arm Circle Timing.. how to correct?

If the ball is at 9 at FSR, then her timing is really late. Send a video to be 100% sure as to why. Could be several things contributing

Arm Circle Timing.. how to correct?

In regards to the arm and it's comparison to a clock, are you referring to the elbow or the ball.... Two very different time frames here!!

Can anyone show me the grandpa radar clip

Lol. Highly doubt it. I have to assume she became an outfielder after her inevitable rotator cuff surgery

    New IR drill

One of the most important aspects in correct, safe, and efficient pitching mechanics is the sequence. I have to agree with the others here in not caring for this drill as it appears to be promoting an incorrect sequence as well as an over rotational approach. Being over rotational on advanced...

    Personal pitcher

I used to have one. My basement was netted off and it was my humble beginnings to becoming a private coach. I loved it. So much that I wish I still had it, and I'm considering buying another one

Parents of older pitchers, what do you know now that you wish you knew when it first started.

I wish I knew the difference between BS and legit pitching mechanics. My dd already had 3 years of hello elbow and multiple trips to the hospital to discuss her shoulder that she couldn't move.... I eventually found Bill Hillhouse and stumbled onto this site and eventually learned that we'd...
