The SS did not make the play at first on batter runner because the ball was dead immediately when interference was called. Nothing can happen once the ball is dead.
No, the batter/runner was not out because when the ball became dead at the time of the interference there was no play made, the ball was dead. The batter/runner is awarded 1st base and the runner that was on first is forced to 2nd base.
I believe it was a 2012 version of the usssa rulebook specifically names it as legal. Later versions just say approved drying agent. I know a guy in usssa and he has told me it is perfectly legal. But, there is a golf version that is not legal.
If they ruled interference, someone has to be out. If they ruled interference on the batter, the batter should have been out and runners returned to last base occupied at time of interference.
Would have to see it, but if the wild pitch chased the batter out of the box while attempting to...
Oh, so you want to split hairs and claim that picking up dirt and rubbing it on the ball is illegal, but rubbing the ball into the ground is completely different and therefor legal? You may want to actually read the rule interpretation and no, the interpretation has not changed in the slightest...
Well, I said I was done but got dragged back in on several things that need to be addressed.
rule interpretations ARE NOT RULES. They change that interpretation all the time.
Please enlighten us on all of these interpretations that have changed "all the time". Yes, when a rule changes the...
Why can you not accept the fact that it is illegal?????? By the way, every ruleset I am aware of has rules about applying any substance directly to the ball.
You do know that the word deface does have a definition, right? It means to spoil or damage the surface. In the context it is used in...
The DP does not get a position number on the lineup card other than just DP. It is not a requirement to report defensive position changes to the umpire, so if the DP is going to play defense for anyone other than the pitcher or catcher you dont even have to tell the umpire, simply put them on...
One more time, not everything is printed verbatim in the rulebook. That's why there are case plays and rule interpretations. You already have the applicable rule interpretation, that is how it is to be called
You just answered your own question, the case plays and interpretations clarify the rules and you have already provided the appropriate information. That is how the rule is to be applied, the case plays and interpretations actually carry just as much of not more weight than the actual rule...
It is illegal to apply any substance to the ball. It's covered more and n depth in case plays and rulings. No, the pitcher is not required to wipe the hand after touching dirt, but it is illegal to pick up dirt and apply it directly to the ball, or rub the ball around in the dirt. In those...
If your lineup and player movement is correct then it would appear something illegal was done. But, if 15 was brought in as the flex along with the DP playing defense what was done would appear to be legal. Without knowing the exact player movements not possible to know for sure.
