I have a 12u player who is trying to bunt using only one hand?! When I asked what she was doing she informed me that her catching coach who plays for a local commuinty college is teaching her to bunt with one hand because thats how lefty batters in college do it..... Have I been under a rock...
DDs 2000 team will be facing a 1999 team that will light you on fire with their bats in about 3 hours. My question is with a power hitter should she throw inside at the hands and try to jam them or try throwing off the plate?? I say inside, the other coach says outside.... Give me ideas...
Yes, she seems to be more straight legged than ever before. Her stance has always been great but now she does seem to be lacking that usual bend.... I also think rd may be onto something as well.... Last night at practice is when it really was noticable and she did seem to be dropping her...
So about a month ago my DD (12u) developed a hitch in her swing.... She is lifting up on her toes as she swings the bat?!? She doesn't do it every time but enough that it's noticable and it's really taking her power away! She has always made good solid contact but since this issue has started...
I'm looking for ideas/recommendations on strength/conditioning for my DD during these 3 months of offseason. She is a 2000 (12u), very solid 5'2, 125 lbs. Positions are pitcher, 3rd base and outfield. She also hits for power. We of course will continue to work on pitching and will hit the...
Well, all day today during tournament play DD stood where she feels comfortable with any pitch thrown to her, roughly 6 or so inches and she batted a .500. Guess we have our answer as to where she should be lol :)
Thanks everyone, I'm going to try what was suggested about laying the bat out. I've got a feeling it's going to end up being about where I've taught her to stand. Her team has moved up to 12u for the fall and they will be playing seasoned 12u teams that I'm sure won't mind pitching inside no...
Last night during practice my daughters coach kept telling her to move towards the plate.... My DD is 5'1" with a 32" bat and he has her about 2 inches off the plate?!? Needless to say she didn't hit anything!! I understand telling a left handed batter to move towards the plate because a right...
Great point, MK. Right now my daughter is 5'1" & about 115 or so pounds so not sure if we can handle any more growing lol :) Nanotech you are absolutely right!!!
Thank you, Amy. Really happy to hear that she is moving in the right direction!! The picture on the left is after realease. I only have those 3 on my phone but I definitely want to capture a few more so that her pitching coach can get an idea of how she looks during gametime, I also want a few...
Nanotech, thats so funny! Its good to hear though that we are not alone. We see so many speedy pitchers that are just throwing fire but I have noticed that alot of them really lack control. I taught dd to pitch to start with and we chose the accuracy over speed because thats why you have a...
You guys are great!! In response to the 1st post she is 10, she has been taking pitching lessons since the 1st of April and she goes once a week. Knee guard is actually a sliding guard she just has it pulled up a little high. She no longer wears that now that they have pants instead of shorts. I...
DD is not real fast, clocked in at about 42mph using a radar gun. She has great accuracy though, shes probably the most hittable but walks the least amount of batters. She tends to of course pitch much faster during practice. I will say there has been a few times in the circle when she her pitch...
Jim, I like that idea. I'm definitely giving that a try.
I'm hoping that the move to 12u and that extra 5 feet will be somewhat of an advantage to her hitting. I know the pitching will be more advanced but DD would take a 55mph fastball over a 35mph any day of the week, she loves the challenge...
No she doesn't swing at everything, she has a really good eye for the ball. DD tends to walk alot by working the count full and will foul off sometimes 8/9 times with 2 strikes on her before getting the walk or hitting the ball. She does set up for every pitch by pulling her wait back. Any ideas??
I was told my DD sometimes sees the ball a little late during "live pitching" what are some suggestions to help her see the ball out in front? We do alot of soft toss and tee work and she is pretty solid in the batting cage.....
