I have, my 13 yo.. she struck out once and hated it and tried to start aiming her bat at the ball 50% swings, and only in games, as far as a fix ... i am still looking too.
One thing that may help is to have her wear her batting helmet with face protection and have her catch the ball right in front of her face, this will re-build her confidence.... i will put my 10u girls in front of the pitching machine at home plate with their helmets and cycle them thru...
Just today at state Rec. tourney my nieces teams 4 hitter popped up the first three times up..her dad who is the coach and i know well kept telling her she was dropping her shoulder, but i think her swing looked great..so i told her to focus on hitting the bottom half of the ball, and she hit a...
Whew, tough decision, It is however a good spot to be in, that means she is good. My only advice would be to make sure that she is behind your decision and if she does play for the other team that you try your hardest not to burn bridges., and explain that it is in the best interest of your DD...
In my part of Georgia 7-8 and 9-10 are machine pitched..then everyone scrambles to get their DD pitching and working with them to recognize strikes. I have waffled back and forth on this but at this time i like it like this. I as a coach get to focus the young girls on proper swing mechanics...
what do yall think about the hitting stick? I use it alot for my girls to get in cuts quickly, pretty much anywhere, i know it does not replace the tee.. another place it is handy last season when coaching 8U rec. was during games when some of the girls were pulling head off the ball or closing...
YES..the problem is me... repeating things she has been taught, and then i found Chris Olearys site on rotational hitting and now i am trying to help her and her parents get her swing back, her dad has been doing the hit the ball with knob drill for months now.. I KNOW NOW that is wrong....I...
this is the results of teaching hands to the ball and hit the ball with the knob drills.....only after of a few months of her being taught....previously she was a good power hitter.. YouTube - kk2.mp4 ..............
she tries out for varsity in a month as a freshmen HELP ?????
Thanks...I have tried to explain what she is doing wrong and make her conscious of it. tomorrow she has a travel tourny in Jacksonville, but a have one with my girl here locally. I will update her video if she gets it worked out, still taking advice and or drills..thanks again
YES...but i have her on film doing the exact same swing with cleats on but the video is too large so i went down to the cage quick to get this with my phone...her team won the District championship and now they go to state, her hitting has went so far down now that she pretty much Pitches, and...
First of all she has been an allstar every year.. and a great hitter until this last year, she also played travel ball since she was ten, she is 14 now, i think that her main problem is she has been taught hands to the ball, also the soft toss and hit the ball with knob drill..I know Tewks hates...
I see the finishing side....however i am just now teaching rotational to them. they have been taught linear arm swinging. with the bag it seems as if a light switch has went off. after the bag i will soft toss or let them hit the stick and make sure the are swinging right and following through...
Ken ,What about an old foam filled tackling dummy???? i have retired from coaching youth football to focus on my girls and coaching travel ball. I use the old bag. it has a good bit of give to it. and the girls seem to respond to the loud pop it makes the faster they swing.
I got one, bought it from my sister for fifty bucks it was extremley hot, but the rubber end cap seems to be a lil lose now, it is a 30/21 its still a team bat and still has pop, but i bought her a rip it foxy....have not seen the foxy enough to judge it, but nothing has hit like that old...
She is sliding her hips....she cannot rotate properly like that.. I think she needs a wider stance and check out batspeed.com she looks to be hitting linear with a straight hand path.
