So, I honestly couldn’t tell any significant weight difference between my daughter’s current CMW3000 and the Liberty Advanced we’re trying to break in...even though SHE said the Liberty is heavier. I am not catching like she is, though, so what do I know??? 🤣
I know :( I did as well. No luck.
She turned 15 end of June and plays 18U. She said the Liberty is heavier than her CMW3000, so I was curious about the Vinci. The weight of the Liberty isn't a deal-breaker, I was just curious how the Vinci might compare :)
Okay, so here are some pics of her AS CMW-3000 and a non-broken-in Rawlings Liberty Advanced
Do you think I should work on trying to pound out the heel area of her AS??
That's why I am asking now because if I am going to get her a new mitt I'd like to have it well on its way by spring tournament season.
I will fully admit, though, that we ARE NOT good at breaking in mitts. We SUCK at it (which is why the CMW3000 sat around for 12-18 months while she continued...
My daughter’s head coach is a female with small hands.
The other coaches didn’t use it, just looked at it.
I will definitely take a look at pounding it out more and potentially loosening the laces!!
Hey!! I was hoping you’d reply! We love her custom HOH fielding glove you recommended, so that is definitely an option!
Think that has a deeper pocket than the CMW3000?
She has been using her CMW3000 consistently in games for about a year now. We had it for a good year before that. We sent it...
Hi All!
I think my daughter (15yo/18U tournament) may need a new catcher's mitt. She currently has a Vela All-Star CMW3000 33.5 which isn't that old and is still in good condition, HOWEVER, balls tend to pop out of it.
I truly THOUGHT it was my daughter just dropping balls (as did her coach)...
I would think it would be pretty easy to just SEE if they’re wild pitches or passed balls??
That said, a decent (I’m not even saying GOOD) catcher should definitively be able to keep almost any pitch from hitting an ump, especially at 14U 🤷🏼♀️ right??
I would most certainly hope that my daughter go to college . She has expressed interest in pursuing athletic training and has expressed interest in playing college softball.
That said, my hope for her to go to college is for an education...if she plays softball too, great!
Balancing the demands...
I bought the mitt to play catch and as a backup, but I’m guessing that chardrok may be asking from a different perspective.
Though, to be honest, I also would love to know what Rawlings switched up from Worth 😉
I am so proud of my 14yo DD. She got off to a really rough start her first JV season and spent a lot of time on the bench. She also missed several games due to a "concussion" (which I think was a CYA kind-of thing by the school).
Anyway, she ended the season tonight with the highest OBP (.650)...
