Is there a good training program out there that anyone has designed for pitching?
We are in a bit of a quandary - DD needs to gain pitching strength (and muscle weight) and although weight training is an option at the local gym for muscle gain, I fear is doesn’t stimulate fast twitch (?).
Our...
I'd like to get a different/professional opinion on my DD's mechanics. Someone who knows and truly understands IR, ball axis/rotation, drive mechanics, etc. DD has remained static in the last 12 months. We can fly/drive as needed, so looking more for an expert PC in the US who can really see...
My DD is a great pitcher. She gets asked all the time to guest. The forums are asking for pitchers regularly, so there isn’t any shortage of opportunities to play.
It has given me some thoughts about whether or not my DD stays with a team.
Anyone do this? What are the benefits and negatives of...
Our PC says to throw it over the plate, shoulder height. But team coach wants it on either side of the zone. PC’s reason is that an over the plate rise will start off looking like something to swing at, versus a pitch that may look like a ball vs strike.. I hear some say the trajectory should...
DD has 22-23 revs on the ball. Need to increase that. Looking to know what the core drivers are for spin and if anyone did any drills with their DD’s that improved their spin.
We work on snap/spin drills each day, but very little progress when being measured.
I know it can’t be strength...
Thanks - Tried this. We have a wall right next to her pitching lane. As soon as we get to the open field she opens up.
Thanks - Tried this too. We have a noodle on a plunger. Works fine when it is there. remove it and glove goes crazy.
I think this has something to do with an earlier problem...
My DD has the dreaded swim glove. Yes, it affects her pitching because the glove weight and power in the glove arm pulls her closed before ball release and she is losing power and accuracy.
when she consciously pushes the glove to the catcher her pitches are faster (2-3mph), more spin and...
Yes. 2 pitchers. Pitcher #1 has mastered the rise and drop. Pitcher #2 has mastered the curve and screw.
Who will get hit more? My unqualified view is that pitcher #2 will get hit more. But was looking for other viewpoints.
We can have discussions about all the assumptions we can make in this...
Fast, change, drop, curve, screw, rise, backdoor, peel, etc.
I would think that balls moving on a vertical plane are more difficult to hit than those on a horizontal plane, therefore a rise and drop are more effective than a screw and curve. Or not?
And if our DD's spent the time they spent on...
Thanks - she's 15. We are following some stretching techniques they have online. what's crazy is that this doesn't happen until she drags her foot. No other movement can replicate this.
Hi -
DD has pain in groin area on drive leg when dragging leg. Started recently. She has a high pain tolerance but started crying with pain. (I thing part of this was frustration not being able to pitch). Cannot replicate pain any other way, other than dragging leg during pitching. No pain...
The issue with us was that last year my DD was mostly ahead of the batters, so the coach/catch wouldn't call changes at all... and therefore she wasn't getting in her live changeup practice.
I got her to throw changes between/before the innings which further messed up the other team/s as they...
My DD usually takes 30+ minutes to warm up for either practice or a game. I want to ensure she is fully warm and mobilized to minimize injury as much as possible.
It all starts with snaps and progressively moves into full pitching so that she is ready 30 mins later. Now whilst we are OK with...
Looking for a professional pitching coach who can do a full analysis of DD's pitching mechanics - by video.
We have a coach, but looking for second opinion. I dont wish to post video on this forum.
Will provide a slow motion back/side/front videos. Of course, will pay.
I reached out to BH and...
I read that the most optimal axis for a rise ball is moving 12-6 with "backspin" - viewing the pitch from pitcher to catcher, the ball is rotating clockwise.
But watching some videos in slow motion, the axis is definitely not 12-6. in some cases it looks like it is moving way off that, even...
I have a catcher's glove, but my thumb (and some fingers) keep getting beaten up. After some research is seems I have a catcher's baseball glove - didn't know there is a difference...
My DD is slowing down on foot growth and her cleats have been Tuff-Toed enough, so I bit the bullet... the customer service at Ringor is outstanding. Super friendly and helpful.
We have had success with the toe-cap glued onto cleats, but my DD really wants the Ringor. I hear they are "heavy" and some DD's have a second pair - one for pitching and one for everything else...
Thoughts on these and is the sizing right, do they run small/large..?
