Why wait until travel ball to start calling IPs? Call them in rec ball. A lot easier then to correct it than in travel ball and HS when "she hasn't been called all year for that, blue".
Spent a lot on pitching instruction for DD (now retired after 2 years pitching college ball) to learn to...
Hey - if it's in the rule book, then it's in the rule book...but in the 20 years I've watched college softball in person and on TV, the scenario I described was the FIRST TIME I've ever seen a player warned for obstruction - which in my admittedly limited experience occurs on damn near EVERY...
Hope everyone is well...
Just learned (please note SARCASM) that with every obstruction call comes an official warning to the player that caused the obstruction even if there was no unsportsmanlike conduct during the play...DD's college coach told this last week during a game
Happy...
"If the goal is big D1, then its all about the club team."
Funny...I hear quite often about "club team" studs coming back to the "excuse me while I look down my nose at you" lowly JUCO or NAIA schools after bombing at Monsters University...seems the studs forgot to emphasize study skills...
We recently had THREE "adults" at the SAME school arrested for sexual misconduct with minor students - two volunteer "coaches" and one JROTC instructor. Would more parental involvement have stopped the abuse? Maybe...maybe not...but it probably wouldn't have hurt.
Reading all the stories in...
There are coaches at every level that field teams because they are expected to and they get money for it. There are coaches at every level that are routinely suspended for breaking the rules when it comes to player eligibility. A coach's personal integrity is just that - personal - it's not...
NCAA fines, reprimands Stanford for football, softball violations - SFGate
From the article:
"The NCAA also imposed a one-year “show-cause” penalty against former softball coach John Rittman, meaning that any NCAA school that hires him during that time must conduct compliance education for the...
So have a chat with the AC and HC together. Tell them exactly what you think and why you are concerned. If HC doesn't drop the hammer on the AC (assuming everything in the OP is true), then the HC obviously values the AC over your DD. Wouldn't be a hard choice for me at all at that point...
Agree. I also agree with Pat Murphy when he says you have let coaches be "hard" on your kids. I know it is a fine line but at some point "hard" turns into "abusive", "destructive", and "intolerable" - regardless of whether it's the local rec coach or Pat Murphy - and hopefully our kids will be...
I understand the comments - but these kind of comments also drive me nuts. How long is long enough to take this crap before stepping in as a parent? What would this a-hole have to do or say to get you to remove your DD from this toxic situation? Just curious.
I don't know if DD has ever hit 60 on the radar gun. What I do know is that with her control and ball movement, she got a scholarship and is beginning her 2nd year of college ball. Granted it's not at Oklahoma or Alabama, but it was her dream at 8 years old to pitch in college and that's what...
DD has started working with the 2 seam this summer in preparation for college season #2. When I asked if she liked it, she just smiled. Can't wait to see it in action.
