    8 year pitcher eval

Honestly don't know anymore! Would love to know what other directions we should look at. If it's not mechanics, it's just strength basically right? Like what else could get her faster? Pushing off harder, faster arm whip, hips legs driving harder. We talk about all that, but most people I ask...

    8 year pitcher eval

Thank you! good advice. Yeah that was new to make sure she had more of a bend. From looking at college pitchers it seems like she's over doing it, but I don't really know. Mostly it was bend? Like before she had her arm straight up at 12. Then we were told to get it more bent by then.

    8 year pitcher eval

It's been almost three years now, and my daughter has come a long way. She's doing pretty well. We had one great pitching coach who we moved away from, but we found another great one. She's in her last season of 10u she's throwing 44-45 her PR is 47. From what her pitching coach says, her...

    Fielding Drills

I think one of the best uses of time in practice is hitting off a live pitcher even if they can't throw strikes. Kids ESPECIALLY at the rec level have to be in game like situations and actually try new things. Have them learn to load even on a ball. They should always be thinking SWING SWING...

How often does your DD go to lessons?

The more the better IMO. Would your daughter get better faster if the pitching coach was at every pitching session ever? I mean of course right? Just having someone there that knows what they’re doing and can correct correctly is huge. A bucket dad/mom is like “I think your coach wanted you to...

    Rec league competitive guidelines?

I'm actually currently building an app to help with this for rec leagues. I've talked to a couple dozen rec leagues now about how they hold drafts and create teams. Here's some thoughts. 1. Hold assessments is the best way to judge girls and have a fair draft 2. Coaches will purposely tell...

    Live pitching practices VS bullpens/lessons

I coach 10u rec. I do live hitting/pitching at every practice. These girls might be able to hit a coach pitched ball just fine, but as soon as they have to hit of a real 10yo pitcher they have no idea whats going on. They never get a chance to do that except for at most 2-3 at bats a week. Even...

    Coach Pitch vs. Pitcher Pitch

I think once players know 8u is player pitched there are kids who start practicing on their own or really parents who have their kids practice pitching. I don’t think 2-3 months is enough to get a pitcher anywhere, but knowing that pitching is coming parents get their kids in pitching lessons...

    Coach Pitch vs. Pitcher Pitch

I'm in so cal and we do player pitch in 8u with coach pitch for walks. Coach assumes the strike count. It's quite a walk fest in 8u, but honestly doesn't sound like as much as a walk fest as 10u other places. Plenty of times with the better pitchers they don't hit the 5 run limit in 8u. Can...

How to stop walk-athon in 10u?

I don’t know the solution, but I don’t think coach pitch is necessarily the right solution. In my neck of the woods (so cal) our 10u pitchers don’t pitch walkathons. We have 9 teams and one team struggles. The other eight will have maybe 3 walks on average for a game. Maybe it’s how we develop...

    Kinetic Arm

Just bought one for DD. Website said softball pitchers use it. Figured it was worth giving it a try. I’ll update when we get it!

    Kinetic Arm

Anyone have experience with this product? Seems they mostly advertise it for overhand throwing, but curious if it would help softball pitching too, maybe preventive keeping pitchers healthy. Product: https://thekineticarm.com/ Some reviews:

    Softball Pitching Movement

This was the type of post I was hoping for. Thanks for putting this together. Am I understanding correctly then that the only effective movement pitches are dropball/riseball? It sounds like everything else is a fastball step one way and throw another, which would match with what I'm seeing...
