OK,
Umpire here who does high school including JV and travel ball tournaments. I hate time limits but in tournament play we need a limit as 6-8 games per field take a while during pool play.
I prefer 90 minutes finish the inning. Older girls get games completed. Younger girls in a 1:15...
Completely agree. A heavier bat when correct contact is made can really drive a ball. Either way strong well coordinated swing will serve hitters well. Need to swing using legs and hips. Swing with arms only will never create power. Try out many bats and weight combos.
Agreed about shutdown. I was once asked to lower noise by opposing team. I did that. Once had a defective machine. I made team shut off for balance of inning and, if not fixed, for balance of game. Lastly I always make sure that walk up music stops when batter puts first foot in box or sooner.
After 2 years umpiring USA and USSSA girls fast pitch tourneys in Florida I am ready to wear ear plugs. Formerly from NJ with little to no music. In Florida it is out of control. I do limit noise and do stop it for plate conferences, etc. Thoughts?
If we are umpires we need to know the rules and we need to enforce the rules. Sure there are odd rules with runners, hit by batted balls, have many results, BUT a pause needs to be enforced.
Rewatched video 10 times. I now would want pitcher to take a longer pause. Assuming this is NFHS I know that my assn. would want a longer pause b4 bringing hands together.
Based in WPB, FL. two years after relocating from NJ. I miss NJ as weekend tourneys were close by. Here you need a car with great gas mileage. No men’s modified only arc. USSSA are mostly 10, 12 and 14. I continue to do H.S. but priority gets me scraps (2 a week). I will ask rules...
