If you think about the speed of the arm as it comes into release, I don't think it is a given that the pitcher has time to say " oh I better let go now". Instead, I agree with AWhip, that it is a sign of good mechanics with the arm being in a stable position and tracking close to the body but...
I've seen in New Zealand mens/womens video's, where the mats are placed in reverse with the short side to the catcher. Pitchers are landing in the dirt.
Considering the valgus of her elbow, I like it. I would say she is brushing. If she got rid of the slight twist in her upper body she might brush more but I like the whip and her upper arm appears stable. How is her spin?
Without video it's hard to tell. Hahaha. Just kidding. I find my video hilarious and I bet you would laugh at yours. How's your whip? lol Considering our tendons toughen up and lose elasticity I would think everybody slows down. Our nerves don't fire as intense blah, blah, blah....I think...
I watch it frequently and the violence which many pitchers throw with is impressive. They don't seem to try to hit locations so much as murder a spot along with spin. It's the land of ugly swings as they are just trying to get a bat on the ball.
I've become a big fan and the biggest eye opener for me is the violence that many of the men throw with. I wouldn't call it pitching so much as calling it murdering a certain location with a certain spin. Impressive.
I don't know if any of you remember Bill posting about a friends need for an old timers pitcher for an upcoming tournament. That post hooked me. They didn't have fastpitch when I was growing up so tennis was my game. Hell, my daughter came home in 2nd grade and wanted to play rec softball and I...
She never fully extends her hips to the catcher when driving forward. There is a small turn of the foot when her hips say no more. Get those hips loosened up, have her drive over her toe completely which will help teach her glutes to fire more fully, and she will be able to drive into a better...
You are allowing your upper body to twist in 2nd image. Extend your left hip like 1st image and squeeze glutes and core super hard. That will keep rotation minimized.
