If you are right and that is the case there will be a group of girls in ever age class that will have to move up early, and only get one year in which ever age group they are in. I thought it was the other way and the girls born between Sep 1 and Dec 31 would get an extra year.
I guess I have a different understanding of it.

Whatever age they are on September 1, 2023 is the age group they may play until September 1, 2024. My daughter is a July 2010. She will be 13 on 9/1/23 so she will play 1st year 14U. She will be 14 on 9/1/24 so she will play 2nd year 14U.

Yes. If that chart is for the 2024 season (which starts Sept 1,2023) then yes kids like my DD (Sept birthday) will get an extra year of 14u. That probably makes more sense.

I am so confused, Will girls born between Sep and Jan get an extra year, or will girls born between Jan - Sep loose a year. Or will everyone just have to move up in September like most Orgs has been doing all along. I understood it as if you were born between Sep and Jan you could stay back and extra year. But I have no ideal if that is right or not.

That is my understanding also. Instead of being able to stay down in the fall, those kids will be able to stay down the whole year. I can’t see many doing that unless you only play USA. On my team and that situation, and she will just move up with us like she would for all other classifications.

I think that will be the case in most situations.

There will be some temptation because that group of players can go from being the youngest players in their age group to the oldest. Some parents, especially, may find that appealing.

Is the easier way to understand this, for example my daughter is a November 2012 birthday, so the way I understand it is she would basically be a 2013 birth year as far as teams go in USA sanction. Or am I completely wrong in the is thinking?

Whatever her age is on September 1 will be her age as far as USA is concerned until the following September

I think it’s going to work like this (I could be totally wrong). My understanding is they want the age division to coincide with the players graduation year. For instance, I’ve currently got a 10th grader (2025) that would have to move to 18U due to her age. Under the new rules she would be allowed to stay 16U during her Junior year which makes sense to me.

Seniors = 18U
Juniors and Sophomores = 16U
Freshman and 8th graders = 14U
7th and 6th graders = 12U

My daughters late November birthday isn't looking so bad now.
Yeah I agree. My oldest was born on 12/30 and I always joke (at least she thinks Im joking) with my wife that she should’ve held her in until after the 1st. My daughter hates that everyone she is in school with is playing 12u yet she has to play 14u

Im glad they are doing this bc the purpose of fall ball (at least as Ive always known it) is to use it as a tune up for the age division youll play in the spring. Sure youll take your lumps going against older girls but it shows you what you need to work on during the winter and once spring comes, you are ready to compete much better. Unfortunately some teams have instead started using the fall to chase trophies bc they are staying put and going against the teams willing to take their lumps. In my opinion, the only teams that should be able to stay put in the fall (unless they are on their 2nd yr) are those that are playing 18u since those girls are trying to give one last season kf looks to college coaches. Otherwise, play what you will be playing in the spring/summer.
