Just a little note cause I am at work :) but I have been thinking of this site lately and wanted to just say a couple things.
This is an emotional year since my daughter is a senior in college and it's all coming to an end. I am sure I will feel led to return and post again as it comes to a...
My daughter will be a junior this year and I think the hardest thing for her her first two years was just the time demands. Early morning weights, full day of classes, trips to the trainer, team workouts that would often go long so that they would miss dinner on campus which meant you needed to...
To the OP I would think that on-line could work best if you could at least see the coach periodically in person and then send them videos like what Bill is referring to above. If she is just starting out and you don't have that option then you can learn to be her #1 pitching coach on here and...
My DD started softball in rec at about 10 1/2 she was super motivated to catch up and learn. When she decided part way through that season to become a pitcher she figured out real quick that there were tons of girls who were years ahead of her and she wanted to learn. She would ask to go workout...
My daughter who worked her butt off on her own time after barely pitching that year IS still playing and starting her freshman year at an NAIA school. I am NOT sure about the other pitcher. She was playing in the outfield of a great HS program a few years ago due to a few better pitchers being...
We have had nothing as crazy as the above - thank goodness.
What we have seen is one time just before the game started the opposing team was doing their warm up and when the catcher went to do her throw down to 2nd she threw it straight into the back of the pitchers head who had turned toward...
What an amazing gift Ken!! newbie parents should read and memorize this information. I spent a lot of time on this site and the web trying to learn this information for myself and my DD.
My DD's school (NAIA) offered on-line option but only if you weren't an athlete. The athletes are all on campus. Haven't had any new outbreaks since going back to school 8/23 (knock on wood). They have limited options for working out and gym time but they are making things work. Practices...
Disagree since my DD just hit 56 this year and her riseball has been her best pitch for years. Even when her FB was 51 and her riseball was 48 it was a good pitch. You can refer to KenB, her pitching coach, on here for confirmation of whether she throws an actual riseball too. It's not mommy's...
You have received a lot of advice on mechanics so I won't pipe in on any of that. My recommendation for the ultimatum is to just eat crow. Tell her "hey dad made a big mistake trying to give you that mandatory speed thing, i was nervous for you, but ultimately you are working hard and doing...
I get his point that maybe it is more natural and that is what the body wants to do, but when you are either starting from square one and don't know what to focus on, or in my daughters case spent hours and hours learning a bowling motion for 18 months first you need to understand what you are...
I am mostly guessing, it would be nice to hear from someone like Riseball on this, but I think this might be right on. I know early on my DD was learning to throw a riseball with with true back spin - I was so proud, but then people looked at it and said dang that is slow. At the time her FB was...
Well in OR I know of a pitcher who graduated last June and pitched this past weekend in her first fall ball game for a local JUCO. I guarantee that she only threw 52-54 in HS - not sure if she will end up being a starter for them or if this was just a tryout.
haha I kept watching and thinking look pretty good to me where is the "worst video ever" portion - I was looking in the background behind the pitcher etc. :p
I have watched these videos and gifs over and over - and showed DD. Her first comment was "She just took out all the extra stuff didn't she" which sort of says it in a nutshell to me too. One of my DD's struggles from day one has been getting too soft in the front leg and ruining her chain of...
