So no rule on this exists in USSSA, Pony, ASA and Babe Ruth? Is moving up in the fall just done on our own? I'm really trying to find out if there is a written rule in the above organizations. I guess I can email each organization and wait for a reply
I agree 100% I will continue to use the fall as the time I will move my teams up. I just had a situation where in a USSSA tournament because of injuries I wound up with 9 players and 1 pitcher. I don't like playing with one pitcher and could have ask a 2000 player to play but didn't because we...
I coach a 2001 team. Our team always moves up to the next level at the end of August. This year (2013) we let 3 2000 girls go on August 31 to keep the team at the 12U level (14U). I assumed that at that date girls with 2000 year b'days should move up to the next level. My question is what is...
LAC Force Red 12u (2001) team is looking to add a catcher and pitcher. We are located in Levittown, NY. We play a full tournament schedule all year round. We prefer birth year of 2001 but will consider 2002 players looking to play up. To schedule a private tryout please contact Ed Agnoli at...
Am I still confused?... You're trying to have your daughter do a check swing that could possible make contact, but if she misses the ball it will not be called a strike??? If this is the case I think the umpire will see the intent and call a strike.
I have a couple of girls that hold that bat like that and they are always late on their swings. I believe the swing gets long. I agree that how you setup matters little, but if you watch all the major league players, they all get into a very similar position just prior to the swing.
I've seen it way too many time. Dad tells his DD "give me your bat, I'm going to fix it so you hit the ball really far" The kid doesn't know what a "shaved Bat" is, she doesn't know it's illegal and can hurt someone because she wasn't told. This fact doesn't make it right. The sad part is...
You're assuming the kid didn't know. I'll bet she did. I also think she should be disciplined whether she knew or not. I'm not talking about kicking them off the team. Talk to the parents and kid together. Let them know it's illegal and can hurt someone. Let them know that they can get...
I've experienced the same thing and I found that the problem is the girls aren't use to live pitching and are trying to decide if they want to swing while to ball is out of the pitchers hand and on the way to the plate. At 35 feet with a good pitcher the girls don't have enough time to make...
Where is she missing? High and low is just release point. She just needs to throw to learn how to control and fine tune her release point. Missing left and right is a mechanical issue. She's getting a little in front of herself but it doesn't look that bad. Use the front leg to stop her...

Our team just moved up to 12U this fall. I have one girl that wants to play 3B, but she is my best OF. She's been my best OF since 8U. After our Friday night game her father very nicely asked if she could get some time at 3B. I said I'll try but I need her in the OF. The next morning Her...
A shaved bat is about 1- 1/2 ounce lighter (on a 34/28 bat) and when you pop off the end cap the inside will be smooth. A none shaven bat will have a very rough inside. A rolled bat has no signs of change because you're really just breaking down the composite material to make the ball jump.
I coach 10U and what I find at this level is that girls tend to cheat on a swing and wind up kind of creeping at the ball particularly against faster pitchers. Basically they start to slowly move the hands down and forward when the pitchers in her windup to get a head start on the swing. They...
