I've seen leaps like that cause problems for pitchers. May not get called illegal, but it will get the opposing coaches nagging the umpire until he gives a warning and then the pitcher get out of sinc anyway. I would have her work on keeping contact with the ground to avoid issues.
My dd’s 14U travel coach has the girls try to get the lead runner no matter what and it costs us a lot of outs. I question him and he says that he wants to teach them the right way of doing things. How do you coach the following situation?
Assume it’s the first inning and no score. One out and...
WOW Pitchermom, your daughter seems very mature for 9yr old. My 10yr old is only 4'5" and weighs 75lbs. She has been pitching for a year and and a half and just now working on change-up. My 13yr old is working with 3 pitches right now FB, CU, Screwball and roll-over drop. She uses the FB and CU...
My 10 yr old DD is pitching really well and nobody has said anything about it, but I notice a little leap. Her drags start about an inch or two away from where they should. Her drag foot remains low with toe pointed down but loses contact with the ground for a tiny little instance.
She is...
When my DD was 12 yrs old she mowing them down in little league… She was fast and right down the middle. She put in some extra time right before the all-star tournament so she could hone her skills. She was throwing faster than ever and dead center of the strike zone. In the first game of the...
Thanks for your help. I will attempt to get a copy of ASA rules and go from there.
What had happened is we were playing in a spring league that used High School rules. My DD had her stride foot behind the pitching rubber (about 6”) and would rock back on it during her pre-motion. The coach on...
Does anyone know if there is a master list of pitching rules for fast pitch softball anywhere? I’ve seen that there are different rules regarding stride foot placement depending on different organizations. High school is different than ASA and Pony etc… I also have heard different things...
A history of the instruction that in my opinion got my DD messed up:
The instructor felt that my DD was pulling her left shoulder out and that she would have trouble getting pitches on the outside corner and that this flaw would be exploited. Also the instructor felt that her weight shift that...
Thanks for all of the help. She is a 13 year old experienced hitter that used to hit with power and got into a bad habit after being taught by an instructor last fall that gave her Qs that really took her lower body out of the swing. I have since started with someone new... that is her whole...
My DD is having trouble with proper hip rotation in her swing and I believe her power is suffering as a result. Her hitting instructor recognizes this as a problem and has told her that she should have more hips in her swing. He has also told her to pull the knob of the bat inside the ball. (I...
My 13 yr old DD has been pitching for 3 years and I have studied pitching mechanics quite a bit. I have had her take lessons from the area’s most esteemed instructors and I have read everything I could get my hands on. Until today I have never heard the term Internal Rotation applied to a...
