Thanks for sharing the USSSA rule - In the OP I didn't specify that the ball was not in the strike zone - batter was in box and pitch was clearly a ball. In what you highlighted it says "If the batter intentionally moves to get hit by pitch" - but that speaks to their intention to gain the base...- mg0403

Hit By Pitch Ruling
Had a situation this past weekend. Batter used her hand to block a pitch in a 16u USSSA game. The ball was clearly going to hit her in the head. Umpire called it a strike and didn’t give her the base. She was called out on next pitch looking at strike 3. Was this call correct??- mg0403
