Regrettably, if it's my DD, she gets 1 error. Anyone else gets 2 or 3. 1st year TB. Spent the entire fall in my head about making sure I wasn't playing Daddy Ball. Cost our team a couple games because of it. Trying to correct that now.....trying.
Yesterday, DD played up and was the backup C for the eventual champions. She held her own going 5 for 6 with 2 walks and 7 rbis. No D3K's, no passed balls, 1 errant overthrow for a pickoff attempt at 1B, and no fielding errors. She caught in one or two innings in all but 1 game and she batted...
If you didn't catch the 3rd strike, you tag or throw. Period. Leave no doubt. The ump can figure it out AFTER the tag or throw. That would resolve the whole thing. Had she thrown to the base and the plate ump then threw up his hands to indicate time and that the runner was already out, no...
April/May is a great time to go to a few local tournaments. Watch the game WITH her. As she is watching the style and level of play, YOU watch the coaches and the parents. When a player makes a mistake, how do the coaches respond? the parents? Is that what you'd prefer? When a player does...
Congrats! This is why we need to advocate for mandatory a link spyder and a go pro cameras recording at every field every second of every day!
An add-on drone wouldn't be a bad feature, either.
I saw a 220 ft fence HR by a 10U girl on an all star team. That year, we were the "B" team and we scrimmaged them. It was her first OTF homerun, but it was a beauty. It wasn't done went it went over by a long shot. Could've easily went another 30 - 40 ft. Will never forget that day. Fast...
JAD I hate you for making me watch so much Duke (deep shudder), but I love you for sharing the journey of a fellow DFPer (and Georgian) for those of us looking down the road. Keep it up Kat....despite being a Dukie!
I've met this kid. Worked beside her in cages for the past 6 or 7 months. She's different. Her mindset is one of a 16 year old at least. Her work ethic is undeniable. Her parents are not "those parents".
Don't like the rules? Fine. She's made a very wise decision for herself and her...
What are your goals for the season?
What are your daughters goals for the season?
What annoys you to no end as a coach?
Took me 1 hell season as a coach to figure this out. Answer those 3 things and who to draft is pretty clear at the REC level. Personally, it annoys me to NO END to see...
...in a word, don't
You've been championing her on. She had a great moment and overcame some struggles. If you don't post it here, how can the next dad of an 8u dd who is trying to fix everything at once calm the hell down? How can the dad who is looking at his dd's swing and...
I've been teasing my DD about her "catcher legs" in an effort to get her to work on her speed. It's paying off. She batted leadoff several games on Saturday and stole bases as well. Of course, she did good catching as well, but that's par for the course.
