Agree spin can cause tricks.
Especially on change ups.

👉Are you going to explain your previous comment of throwing pitches with the same spin???

Not to be snarky here...

Rather to discuss your point to throw pitches with different movement and use the same spin?

And what spin would you suggest to use?
Are you saying mechanics would change?

Right toooo many questions ;)
Spin does not play tricks, speed does. Have you ever played the game before or caught a baseball pitcher Serious question?

Is a sinker, cutter, and a 2 seam basketball are all the same pitch. Finger pressure will dictate what happens in flight. In baseball you can also change your arm slot

The holy grail is a pitch with multiple speeds from the same arm motion, same spin, and different speeds

Asked because, Thot you might have had some feedback to add with your comment. Thanku for adding detail in release of pitch finger pressure.
Btw not arguing rather asking for you to support your comment adds to discussion.
Soooo i will add to those question / comments.

I understand pitchers mechanics wanting to stay as consistant as posible to not have there body or release give pitches away.

Yes have played both bb and fastpitch.
Used to catch for college bb pitchers and even couple who went pro.
Have you played fastpitch?
Cuz thats the real topic for me in the forum dfp.

Heck yes spin plays a role in deception especially on change ups/off-speed!!! Keeping consistant spin rate is an illusion to the eyes trying to read off-speed.!!!

Of course we know Pitchers
Use different spin velocities and angles of spin/angle
While throwing at different speeds to achieve different trajectories.

Mechanics include the releasing of the ball which can have variances in release and arm/body approach
(simple way of saying slight variance in body)

Yes even in fastpitch catching/defense Reading overhand throwing is very important for incomming throws.
Teaching throwing comes to mind also. By the time i was asked to play in a womans baseball pro league....reading overhand pitching was much easier ...because the spin trajectory has less variables to read and decifier. The league had men from the farm league division throw bp to us. Btw had to weight on 80- 85 mph cuz was used to fastpitch. Also bb can read pitch earlier because of less variable.
Longer trajectory helps maybe?

Decifering pitch speed is made harder by keeping spin velocity high.
Less or no spin (in general) shows pitch speed is slower like a knuckle ball or some change up deliveries. No spin would be first tell.

Sinkers and cutters are fastballs as well as a 4 seamer. They are pitched the same way. The spin is the same. Where the ball needs to be spotted determines how the pitch is thrown. Both of them have a late break

Only in fastpitch do you have 50 pitches the coaches call and pitchers think they can pitch. I
To the point of pitch description
Are two pitches with different grips, one that travels 90 mph and another 80 mph both a fastball?
imo no,
Thats the simple point.
Thats why you use words like
Sinker to describe trajectory.

Gotta go now, Pgf national championship game.
Btw think its televised on espn.
Enjoy!
