When do you replace a pitching mat?

My daughter’s pitching mat is starting to look a little rough/ worn down. Does this matter? At what point do you replace it?

She wears Ringor turfs to practice.

Looks perfect to me. And in way better shape than most fields she'll pitch on.

If her drive foot is slipping off the rubber, then maybe.

Instead of buying a whole new mat. Could you get the rubber off and simply replace it? I've never had to try. But may be cheaper than a brand new mat.
