Runner at 3 with no outs. Batter hits a line drive right over third base chalk line. Third baseman makes an attempt to catch the ball but is hit by the runner who has jumped off the bag. Ball is not touched by anyone and rolls out of bounds down left field line. Blue says it's simply a foul ball and play resumes....
My point here is, had the runner not ran into the third baseman, she would have most likley made the catch. Blue said the runner had equal rights to the path and the contact was incidental.
What's the call?.....

First of all, the statement that "the runner had equal rights to the path" is incorrect. A fielder fielding a batted ball has the right of way and a runner must avoid said fielder.

Now it comes down to judgement. If the umpire believes that the fielder has a reasonable chance to play the batted ball, then the runner has interfered, the ball is dead, and the runner is out. If the fielder did not have a reasonable chance to play the ball, now the contact becomes obstruction if the ball is fair. if the ball is foul, it remains a foul ball and there is no violation.
