I am starting a new 12U team and was wondering where to even start with Uniforms? Do we go online, or are there specific companies to use, that will do the graphic that we want. Is the full uniform better or just shirts/socks/belts?
We used 2:5 in 8U and they were great. We got them again this year (2nd year 10U) and our pitchers can't stand the jerseys. They both say they chafe very badly under the arms. We ripped the seam to make the opening larger but it fits her, it's something about how the fabric comes together. I'm hoping it softens up after a few washes. I'm a fan of Mizuno pants though. You can get them on Amazon and everyone can match without having to special order.
boombah or intensity jerseys. lots of sizes. nice sublim dye (Boombah). you can get their coordinating pants or just plain black, navy (whatever corresponding color you need) on your own that way the girls can get the pants on their own the way they like them to fit
We went with Boombah last year. We got on their website, designed our own jerseys with sublimintion dye and got matching pants. We called the customer service 800 number, found the rep for our area and got a nice discount since we ordered the same unis for all 8 teams. We also ordered their batting helmets with a nice discount as well. For the most part, the quality was good (we did have a few issues with several pairs of the pants tearing after just a few games) but the customer service was great and whatever issues we had were fixed free of charge and very quickly.
Standard black pants - $15/$20 a pair from blankathletics.com
Black socks - $4-5/pair
Drifit jerseys - one black, one other color. One color team name in white. Number on back.
Going solid black pants and socks make it real easy for people to get replacements - even on short notice.
Save the money on uniforms - spend it on extra coaching, balls, bownets, tanner tees, etc. Especially extra coaching.
We have beaten some of the best teams in the country who looked fantastic in their expensive uniforms in some of the simplest uniforms you will ever see. This season most parents spent about $60 on jerseys - they already had pants and socks. If you are spending more than $125/player then your priorities are somewhat off.
We have had great luck with Boombah over the years. Great to work with, fast turnaround, and will discount anything if you ask them. Plus their pants hold up really well and you can order more any time you need to.
