Fun Note: She is hitting at Reaves Park across the street from Marita Hynes. That is where OU played when Gasso first got there.

Where’s the the back forearm must be parallel with the ground dude? lol.

In which I do believe, for better scap, better top hand action. However it is not an absolute.

I’m not the “back elbow parallel guy”, but isn’t this pretty close or am I missing something?

The back arm is relative to the timing of the ball. The back arm planes the swing. Sometimes it will be before toe touch. The hands remaining back is the fundamental. Not a flat forearm. Fastpitch hitters have less reaction time so you will see the back elbow get down earlier or more often start lower or w a singles type baseball hitter (they’re letting it travel). It has nothing to do w stretch or load. It’s just a shorter swing timing wise. I think you should let the hitter dictate how they do it. Whatever their approach is.

The back elbow up cue is old and has nothing to do w anything but the timing of getting on plane. The load is hands still going/remaining back or up while the front foot is coming down(among other things). This gives you stretch. It’s why we get the lower half going before the upper so it can be natural. So a hitter doesn’t have to think about it.

Watch Hanks back arm get vertical early before toe touch and his posture follow. He had to be quick and make an adjustment. Looks like he loaded late.

Delaying a back elbow or forearm can help and hinder. Higher and inside pitches can get tougher to get to and lower and outside pitches can be seen longer. If you don’t have an adjustable planing mechanism I think that is limiting. The timing window becomes smaller imo.

Inside pitch, AC planes early or before toe touch. Hits a pull missile. A 45ish degree forearm relative to ground at toe touch.

My dd loading later w 2 strikes. Starts to plane a bit early or before toe touch, due to location(up) and timing.
