Out front or froom I guess is something that needs to be done at all costs. It’s just active hands early with direction. The rear arm will begin to extend or direct itself as soon as it needs to if the forward move is created before or at release of the pitch. These two Griffey gifs show his rear arm losing its angle rather early for two different pitch locations.

these hitters are creating speed as deep/early as possible. By swinging ‘down to’ relative to the pitch. The rear arm angle loss/extension is the result. This is why elbow ‘up’ or rear arm horizontal at toe touch is nonsense. You’re just delaying launch. Toe touch doesn’t need to be achieved to get to the hitting position. It can be much earlier. Personally don’t think toe touch should even be a check point for anything.

Why is that every fastpitch HR looks like it comes off at a 40-45 degree launch angle? 🤣
