A while back, I think it was Sluggers who said you never hear anyone say, ‘’My daughter is the No. 1 pitcher on her high school team because of politics.’’

Thought that might make a good thread.

What are other things you never hear? I thought of a couple -

“It's just rec ball. Let my daughter play some outfield and give those other kids a chance.’’

Or perhaps the most obvious one:

‘’I'm a Daddy Ball coach.’’

Some will tell you there isn't a daddy coach who isn't, but I've never heard a single confession.

I have.
Happened on my son's team when my DH was assistant coach.
Of course it was obvious, his kid was the worse player on the team but did most of the pitching, played SS when wasn't pitching an always batted 1st.
He had a medical issue that made him have a 2 week hospital stay, during that time, my DH threw his kid in the outfield and the bottom of the order and then won every game. The parents and kids were so happy, not so much the coaches kid.
Of course he heard all about it from his kid, and when the coach finally made it back to the team he just flat out said, "My kid will pitch and play 1st, that's why I coach the team."
