DD's org doesn't do it until 14's and then they assign the monikers. The Premier/National teams get the good tournament bids.

It's a Jedi mind trick to lure unknowing parents to their teams.

In club soccer I know this is pretty much the case (the luring part, not necessarily the Jedi part). Some of the larger clubs will add “Pre-academy” to the name of a good but not great team mixed in with their tier 1-3 and actual academy teams.

10U Ring Chasers Platinum Elite Gold is a nationally ranked team that competes in the most competitive C tournaments in our city. We are looking for a second Premier bracket pitcher and catcher. Also looking for 9 committed impact utility players to round out our experienced core of 1.

It's become more a marketing tool than anything else, IMHO. It used to mean something, now, not so much. I tell my players, "It's just four letters, now go out play them".

Hmmm not sure if this team name would gather competitive players,
But if they beat you it may say something... LOL
