Ok I’ve been following this thread since the beginning, even through the twist and turns, the highs and lows, drama and lulls. I think now is a good time to chime in and take a step back for reflection. For intent and purpose, Mike starting this is for someone like me. I didn’t know a lot about this swing before and some things I understand better now. Are there things I may not understand fully or don’t necessarily agree with? Sure. Are there things that make sense and I could implement with my girls, age 12 and 9? Sure. Do I think it’s the end all be all of swings? No. Can things of it be molded into other patterns? I think so.
I’m more convinced now that there may not be a perfect swing. What there is though is a perfect swing for each individual and working to bring it out, make it consistent/repeatable in all situations, then adapt is what we’re all after. Take Hailey and Maddie. Same instructor but look really different. One I would say has more “traditional HLP look” than the other. One looks to have implemented principles to fit her needs. Both work and achieved success.
What worked for Charlie Lau and George Brett may not be what works for Aaron Judge and Richard. That’s ok and is the art of hitting. I’m not saying one is better than the other, they’re what fit the needs of the individual.

This is one of the areas that Mike really shines as an instructor. He's not trying to make all of his students look the same, but mesh HLP mechanical improvements with the nature of the hitter.
Actually it looks to me like he is very clearly swinging his foot down. There is a lot of misunderstanding regarding what that phrase actually means.
