Personally I never liked the batter to follow ball back into catchers glove during the game. It make the batter look weak and unsure if it was a ball or strike and I think umpires aren't fond of it either.
What I do like to do to help players track the ball better is turn up the pitching machine as fast as it can go (70+ mph) from 33 feet which is equal to like 80 mph and get them to creep into the box and just have them track it with there eyes. Don't swing, just watch/track 10 or 12 pitches. When you turn it down to 60 mph it seems slow/easy. Slow the game down.
