Looks closer to perpendicular to the spine to me. I could see slightly up in some cases.

I use exaggeration in lessons. Back when I was a serious golfer I would video my swing all the time. Often a swing change that felt significant couldn't be seen in video. From this I learned to exaggerate the action.

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with some exaggeration, especially in drills. But it's important to understand that the action you are exaggerating is just that, an exaggeration.

Most of the time yes, but not always. Sometimes you have to tell them to exaggerate it to get them to where you want them to be. What feels like a big change to the player often doesn't go far enough.
