Great weekend for team, and for DD. first really hot WE of the year here, so no one used to it yet.
Sat, DD has the best day so far in her SB life at the plate. 5 for 7, + SF RBI, 3 doubles, including a ground rule double (she is actually mad about this, would have been triple if it had not bounced over fence, actually about 5 feet shy of HR), 3 RBI (many AB with bases empty, but starting big innings for her team). scored her teams only run (rarity for her to score as a C as she is CR for mostly) in first game of Saturday, teams only loss of weekend. Sunday not so hot, ended up 7 for 16 for the weekend (still respectable), could not figure out slow pitchers in first two bracket games. For the weekend, she caught 21 of 30 innings, 12 of 14 on Sunday, no SB allowed (3 runners thrown out for the weekend), and made one tag play at HP (only play at plate for her all weekend) in championship game.
Team came from behind in both semifinals and championship. Semis they were down 4-1 in 6th (away team), scored four in 6th to pull ahead, then got first two outs in bottom of 6th, let up blooper hit, then during next batter, time expired (finish the inning), weak ground out to end game. I joked with other parents that it was a good thing that the opposing batter reached, otherwise we would have had to play the 7th

Championship game, opposition goes up 3-0 in top of first, girls tie it in bottom (3 run HR from our clean up hitter), then go down by one again in top of second, then took lead and never looked back, won 15-10 (think all pitchers were tired, opposition played 3 games plus championship on sunday, and we were missing our #1 Pitcher, had three different pitchers throw in championship game.
and DD gets to show off a big honking ring (thank god no trophies) at school today! and she still has improvements to make in her hitting, mainly needs more patience, everything she hits is LCF to LF, and lots of fouls off 3rd base line. hopefully this weekend gives her confidence to be patient.
