Pushing the envelope for leaving early

I don't see coaches "teaching" players to leave early. Most of the conversations are about timing and not being late.

In the rare game that you play with one umpire I don't see players leaving super early as the plate umpire can still monitor this to some extent. If both teams are leaving a step early than no advantage gained and that's just how it's going to be for that game.

The rules of the game are whatever the umpire(s) and to some extent the tournament director say they are.
Taught our players to try to leave "on time" not cheat.......best of intentions....

When ball is coming down the back of the circle, 3 o'clock position, that's when to start to take off. The timing would match up with release.

First year 12's, girl gets a hit. On first, pitcher goes into her motion with a backswing...and backswing to 3 oclock...player takes off....Called out leaving early. DOH! Player says "Coach the ball was at 3 o'clock!! I don't know why they called me out!!". Learning experience for sure.
