Stretches the top against the bottoms forward advance. An anchor point as well, to launch from so to speak.
Yep !!

Well attempted somethings you guys talked about. Kept it simple, reduced the leg kick, tried to load into posture etc. This swing seems more sudden/explosive and I do feel I used the ground and my core a little better.

Edit: Also tried to land lighter on my front foot

How does it really create stretch, cause I can move away from hands and still have absolutely no stretch? One could also push their hands away which would not stretch either. Either one seems to me to just create length. Making an anchoring point is good. I can see and feel that. No problems there. Now, I can create stretch that I see and feel, by using my upper back and shoulders turning in against a advancing lower half. I'm not trying to split hairs, just sharing what I feel.

The clip of Rose, he seems to kind of have a preset inward turn of the upper half. Which he maintains throughout, as the lower half advances. He does "Walk away from the hands", but to me that would be in conjunction with the upper turned inward.

When I replicate what JD illustrates in his video I feel maximum stretch, a ton. I know it's an exaggeration, but just for feel.

The stretch is horizontal as well as vertical. It depends on pitch location as well as approach/timing. Starting closed helps get to EROM earlier. But has its drawbacks as well.

Edit: if you take your hands back against or down and back against (a la Barry Bonds or Mike Trout, UFAs) your back knee you will feel a core stretch backwards. Once the pelvis advances you will feel more stretch. Once the front foot gets down you will feel more stretch. And once the back knee starts to ‘turn’ you will have completed all four corners of the torso stretch.
