Runner at 3rd and trying to intice a throw from catcher.
We have pitcher walk to the catcher that is a few feet down the line and receive ball making sure she doesnt turn her back on runner as she makes her way to the circle.
Or have pitcher run to home plate as catcher walks the runner back?

Just have the catcher stand in front of the plate, pitcher in front of circle and fire the ball back to pitcher.
Do not play games with runners. Both pitcher and catcher should be alert and be ready if runner breaks for home.

If you continuously run runner back, or pitcher has to come to plate to get the ball, you are messing with the rhythm of the game.

I love it when catchers commit all the way up the line, as soon as they return the ball back to the pitcher it is a foot race between the 3rd base runner and the catcher to home plate. Its hard to run fast, catch a ball, and apply a tag all at the same time. IMO, the catcher fires the ball back to the pitcher everytime. When the runner gets confidant we run a pick off play, if we don't get them we still get the point across.

We fire the ball back to the circle, it is then 'decision time' for the runner.
If they go for the delayed steal, they are out provided the throw to catcher is a good one.
Sending the runner on this play normally stops working by the time you get to 12U travel.
