I have never said that 700 was acceptable. In fact, I've said the exact opposite _explicitly_ multiple times.

This is an obviously emotional-charged topic for many whether it's one side wanting to trust their gut and their experience that it's fine OR the other side wanting to trust their gut, because their kid was hurt and need a reason why, or their kid didn't get to pitch because the starters took too many innings.

So, I guess we will keep having it the exact same way it has always been because everyone would rather trust their own guts instead of actually having irrefutable, non-emotional data and research on what is safe and what isn't.

Don't bring nuance and logic to the conversation. You must hate little children.

Those trophy cases don't build themselves.

Sigh……why is it always so difficult to have a meaningful and educated conversation on this board? You never know when you might learn something…

I think most of those, due to an injury we need a pitcher, posts are actually due to poor planning by coaches. In our area there just aren't enough pitchers to go around. And I've said, I'm conservative with my daughter but I let any coach know that's going to be the case so get more pitches than less.

The only side that wins from this is the side that does think 700 pitches is okay, by the way.
This is the best one yet. If you're concerned about pitchers throwing too many innings, it's because your kid stinks. Bravo.

Yeah - I was a little confused about that comment, myself. It’s the pitchers throwing the majority of innings that are at highest risk.

I also didn’t need to find a reason why my dd was hurt - I just needed to find a way to help her feel better and not be in pain anymore! It was apparent it was due to overuse. Bursitis isn’t typically an acute injury. Nor is a shoulder impingement or biceps tendinitis. But I guess our orthopedic doc was wrong after he based his diagnoses off the MRI results and her physical exam.

The problem is “I” trusted my gut as a former pitcher (up through HS) that pitching was a natural motion and my dd would be fine throwing a lot of innings from 10U to 18U, even though there were a few times I pitched a few days in a row and remember being wrapped in ice and being unable to throw the ball overhand to 1B due to pain in the joint. You never think it will happen to your kid.

Now, the research is out there. Maybe it doesn’t meet certain people’s standards of the quantity needed to convince them to change rules but at least it’s being done. Anyone can take it or leave it for what it’s worth. If coaches don’t want to restrict their pitchers’ innings because there isn’t enough research that meets “their” standards or because there are no governing body rules in place yet then that’s on them. Pretty poor excuse IMHO.
