That's a hit. If the fielder has to leave her feet to make the play, then it's always a hit.

Here's my general rule - If I think to myself, "Wow, nice play," then it would have been a hit if the player hadn't made it. It's always subjective.

Ordinary effort is the official nomenclature... Some refer to reasonable effort. Anyway, this ordinary effort is always changing for different age divisions.

Honestly, the bar is pretty high on errors. Bad hops, diving, lots of range to get to a ball, etc all need to be factored into ordinary effort.

In your case, hit. A diving play is never, ever ordinary
