So DD's team is in the same region as the #1 team in the nation and so far this team is undefeated. We'll have some good innings but then this team is just that good and we had never managed to score a run on them.
Last night was our final game against them and I was just hoping maybe DD would get a hit. The game previous we only managed 1 hit. We are already down 7-0 in the third and finally DD will bat. Lead-off hits a double. Next girl sac bunts her to 3rd. So all DD really needs to do is hit it right side and we could score a run. But she managed a short line drive to right and got a hit and RBI. Only run we scored but improvement from the first two games.
And DD's team has not made the playoffs the entire time she's been on varsity and we actually look like we'll make it this year! We would have to play the 2nd team in the state (who won state last year) but just making it is an accomplishment for them. This is DD's senior year but next year looks promising - a ton of the teams we play are graduating a lot of good/D1 committed players and we have some really good younger players.
