Yeah, I guess the WWF does pretty well with weak rule enforcement.

My take is that in the long run it matters little as every team plays by the same rules and has equal chance to run into crappy umpires and/or be effected by archaic/bad rules. The good teams will come out on top and the good players will shine..

Of course if I actually cared about umpires I would probably die considering all my other softball-related anxieties so perhaps my take is self-preserving.
