As pitching gets better and faster, I thought it would expose swing flaws too,(long swings would struggle) but it didn't. We faced 62-63 mph hour and the ones I thought might struggle, killed it. I am coming to the conclusion that successfully hitting is much more about timing and mindset. Sure mechanics matter but give me a focused confident hitter with good timing over perfect mechanics everyday.

62-63 with good offspeed and location? If a kid really does have a long swing they are going to have to cheat a bit to get to that which will leave them vulnerable to offspeed.

You would think so but I think cheating/ guessing is real. The fences are 210 feet. Guess right and the ball is gone. Also have hitters looking for patterns. Pitch calling is very important.

Fair enough..it is in MLB for sure. Thing is, if your mechanics don't allow you to barrel up a certain pitch the pitcher can tell you it is coming and it won't help.

She has 4 games Friday-Sun at the OU camp and that will finish her Fall. I haven't been able to hit with her much the last few weeks with Travel softball, MS basketball and AAU basketball..

I think the majority of coaches wrongly believe pitching away to big righties is safer and they maybe are afraid to pitch inside to them. But pitching big hitters with longer swings and good timing outside is a gift to them. Their real hole is inside.
