That is the craziest ending I have ever seen. I truly hate it for that pitcher, that will eat her up.

Not just an IP. That was most wild IP I have ever seen. Looks like she tripped over the heel of her drive leg and it threw her off balance. Even if she had let go of the ball, it was a leap. He called it pretty quick.
I wish I could find a link to it.
The PU should not be calling an IP for a leap. Did not see if a BU caught it.
PU has the hands. BU has the feet.

Does that mean that if she had released the ball it would have just been a "ball" on the batter?

The poor girl (Chelsea Wilkinson) was in tears ! I felt so bad for her, and she was just brought into relieve !
That may be the worst part, the other pitcher was over 110 pitches and battled all night, only to have it end like that! That is a tough 7 2/3 shutout when she left loss!
