Middle aged guy with 2 daughters that have played SB for the past 14 years. Never thought I'd like softball or umpiring until they got involved and, over the course of their careers, I've come to love the game.
Started weekend umpiring last year, but too busy with daughters to do as much as I want. But, youngest's last HS season will end this July (yes, the Iowa season runs from last week of May to the 3rd week of July) and will look for more games to do after that.
Have enjoyed the learning the technical rules and watching umpire techniques and application during games. Also, have seen most of our umpires this year be in the 60+ category and want to support the game that my daughters have had the opportunity to enjoy.
