DDs team had a showcase over the weekend down in FL which is an 8 hr trip for us. Weather was predicting thunderstorms for the weekend so we weren't really certain if we would even be playing. On the drive there, it did start raining/storming. So our games got pushed back an hour on Saturday.
We played our first and won - DD had another good double that almost went out. We started the second game and got 30 min in and the skies opened and we had to suspend play until Sunday. Saturday night while back at the hotel, there was a tornado warning! And after about 4 scheduling changes, we would be able to resume the one from Saturday and play another. They had scheduled 2 others but they were later in the day and with the drive back, none of our girls could play. Finals are this week too. So we resumed play and won big in the game. Then third game, we were actually down 0-4. In the 4th inning, we had a great comeback and went on to win 8-4.
So for this tournament the netting wasn't one that we could setup our camera behind home plate so we set up the camera right next to the dugout which had a solid fence. So we could basically get the pitcher and the batter and 2nd/3rd/left/center.
During the second game the girls realized the camera was there. So in the 3rd game they started talking to the camera while they waited on deck. It was really funny for the people who were watching the stream. I actually put together a vid of all the times they talked to the camera...
With all the weird scheduling changes and the rain and the heat it was nice they all still had a good time!
Oh and this is a tournament where they have recruiters/coaches all watch the games and actually make notes about stand out players. DD got a really good mention...
