First walk off

Long story short. DD’s team was down 10-4 after the first during second pool play. DD was brought in to take over pitching and to “shut it down and give us a chance”. Started strong and got two strikeouts right away. Then 3 runs score. 13-4. For whatever reason the bats go hot, smart and patient at bats top to bottom, and we end up tied 13-13 with 2 outs. DD gets herself into a full count with runner on first. (Full credit to our first base coach. Gets her attention and says something dumb. Makes her laugh.) Next pitch turns into a walk-off triple.

It was a team comeback and win. But never have I seen a smile so big as her teammates mobbed her from the dugout.

My DD had her first experience with a walk off hit earlier this year. As you note, the greatest thing about it is the smile on their face and their teammates’ genuine happiness as they mob them. Congratulations to your DD and her team!

Kinda smooths over all the time, expense, headache, and heartache we as parents put into this silly game.

It was local(ish) tournament here in SW MO. Admittedly, the walk off was due to "time".......DD was the last hitter but had she not hit the "walk off" the game would have ended in a tie.

The few times we've had potential walk-off opportunities we've ended up with ultra-thrilling:

Yup, been there as well. Both for and against. This was a C-tournament so definitely a few lesser experienced pitchers. Due to the time issue had DD been walked or HBP the game would have been a tie. Talk about anti-climatic if that happened.
