Finch windmill is good for creating a long straight arm.
I didn’t know what the windmill trainer was so I googled it. She actually demonstrates it with a pretty bent arm and good circle by DFP IR standards.

Do you have any experience with it? I do and couldn't disagree with your assessment more. Are J Bands also good at creating a long straight arm?

It is an exercise tool, not a training tool. You can perform the exercises in any position you choose. Just like with a J Band. Bent at a 90 or straight or anything in between. Heck some of the exercises are done with both hands while facing the machine. Straight or bent is the users choice.
