I have a question. After hitting a double, why does the player have to call time and give the elbow guard to their 3rd base coach? I mean she ran to 2nd with the guard on. Does the guard slow the runner down?

Gives the player one less thing to be “tagged on” if there’s a play at 3rd or home. Small I know but you never know.

Sure errant pitches happen, but crowding the plate is also a thing...

Well how do you handle the elbow in the strike zone situation? I see it all the time. The batter has her elbow in the strike zone prior to pitch thrown. Think some coaches teach it.

I'm going to take this approach ___xyz___ and its higher risk.

My catching example is
I didn't wear shin guards because I was afraid of getting hit in the shins by a foul ball, I wore shin guards to protect me for when runners were sliding into me. But they were also there in case I got hit by a foul ball.
