The only way I can think of that this can happen is if the pitcher walked out of the circle or maybe if she made a fake throw or made an attempt on a runner. They left so late it was confusing. I call pitches for or HS team and was calling the pitch and the pitcher was looking at the card but wasn't on the rubber like we teach. Our HC argued and the officials just said, I didn't call time. I heard the first base coach say go. The team we played is very good and has would 4 or 5 state titles. I knew it wasn't correct but had a little doubt because I didn't think everyone in the park was wrong.
Went back and watched it. The runner stood on first base for 5 seconds with the pitcher one foot behind the rubber.
Sounds like it was a messed up call.
