Thoughts on Barry Bonds talking about the X factor. Where the front shoulder and the back kip are connected and the stride leg and back hand. Can't remember where I saw him talking about it.
Here’s the X Barry spoke of. What catches my eye is his torso working in 3 different directions as he put his foot down early. The synchronization of those movements seem to be reactionary for the most part. Trying to stay closed against the forward move which leveraged things a bit sooner than most. I think this is why he was able to adjust things so well.
See the same in Griffey as well.
The hands, chest, belly button work back against the hips forward move w the center of the chest realigning itself w the center of the pelvis before the hips open up. Thoracic ‘shift’ or ‘tilt’ in reaction to the front foot landing. I think that’s the rib cage clamping onto the obliques and shoulders before core contraction. Thoughts?
I think if you took Griffey's swing and put it on a HS player or a stick figure, the gurus would say his swing is disconnected or he is casting or there is extra unneeded movement and of course, "that swing wont play at the next level."
You know what he does real well? He sees the ball.
